Few details have emerged and the victim’s name has not been released. From NBC New York:
Police are searching for the gunman who shot and killed a 22-year-old man near the Williamsburg waterfront early Tuesday. The victim was shot in his leg and chest at North Sixth Street and Kent Avenue in Williamsburg around 1:30 a.m., according to authorities.
He managed to call 911 before collapsing onto the street near riverside apartment buildings.
He was taken to Woodhull Hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at 4:35 a.m., authorities said.
Police say no one witnessed the shooting. It wasn’t clear if the gunman and victim knew each other or if it was a random incident.
Crime scene detectives were scouring the block normally bustling with tourists, cyclists and residents, and police cars had blocked off several intersections.
